Release date: 23 April 2019
Pre-order: Amazon UK or Amazon US
The latest - and what looks to be greatest – instalment of the Mortal Kombat promises much of the same, but that’s not a bad thing. Expect the return of many Klassic fighters, gory and OTT fatalities, beautiful graphics and more, alongside a cinematic story mode that continues the 25-year-long story told across the Mortal Kombat franchise. While it’s much of the same, the game features the introduction of Custom Character Variations that provide a way to customise fighters to “make them your own” - whatever that means.

Release date: TBC
Pre-order: Amazon UK or Amazon US
CD Projekt Red is going big with its follow-up to The Witcher trilogy: a massive open-world, first-person, cyberpunk sci-fi game based on a cult tabletop RPG. Known about for years but only revealed for the first time at E3 2018, Cyberpunk looks like one of the most ambitious RPGs ever made, combining dense progression systems, branching narratives, and fast-paced FPS combat into one sprawling whole. We're ready to move to Night City now, please.
Dying Light 2
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Release date: TBC
Pre-order: Not available
While Dying Light was originally poised for release in 2019, changes to internal deadlines mean this is no longer the case. But if you think this indicates issues with development, think again; Dying Light 2 looks to be one of the most exciting sequels of this generation, and this is evident by the gameplay demo seen above. It’s clear that the game is in the final stages of development, with gorgeous visuals, smooth parkour and combat mechanics and impressive zombie hordes, we think Techland wants to take a little longer to make sure it’s as perfect as it can be.
Days Gone
Platforms: PS4
Release date: 26 April 2019
Pre-order: Amazon UK or Amazon US
2019's first big PS4 exclusive, Days Gone is another post-apocalyptic
survival game, in which you'll have to navigate a world overrun with
zombie-like infected, as well as humans who could prove just as deadly.
Expect it to be grim 'n' gritty throughout, which all sounds pretty
familiar, but there is one novel twist: a mechanic that allows you to
lead hordes of zombies into enemy camps, to pit your enemies against
each other.Rage 2
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Release date: 14 May 2019
Pre-order: Amazon UK or Amazon US
It's the sequel that basically no-one was asking for, but Rage 2 actually looks sort of great. Bethesda's upcoming open-world shooter looks gleefully nasty, with over-the-top action, an assortment of mad vehicles, and a neon Mad Max aesthetic. Bethesda has been on a roll recently, so we have very high hopes for this one too.
